Crunchy Mama Tag

So it's been a few minutes since I last updated this blog. If you don't follow me on Facebook or Instagram, it's worth mentioning that I'm currently pregnant, & that's why I've been MIA. To be honest, I've sort of lost a bit of my motivation to do any posts. But When I watched a fellow SAHM on youtube do this tag, I thought it would be a fun way to (hopefully) jump back into blogging.

So this is how it goes, I get a "point" for each one that I've done. In the end we shall see just how crunchy I really am, haha!! This is all just for fun, btw (=

1- Stopped shaving legs

Not intentionally, but I do slack off in the winter time

2- Stored coconut oil in the bathroom

Yes. It's the best moisturizer & makeup remover

3- Put garlic oil in my ear

     Yes.

4- Bought vinegar by the gallon

Yes. I use it as a cleaner & to wash fruits and veggies

5- Bought from the bulk bins

A few times. But we mostly buy in bulk from Costco

6- Breastfed a baby

Yes. 37 months collectively between my 3 children

7- Washed a cloth diaper

     Yes

8- Used breastmilk as a remedy

     Yes

9- Done family cloth

No. I don't think I could ever do this unless I had no other option

10- Made my own cleaner

     Yes

11- Used soap nuts

     No

12- Said "We don't use paper towels"

No, but I do try not to use them often.

13- Tried oil pulling

Yes, But I couldn't do it.

14- Washed my hair without shampoo

Yes, I've tried the 'No-poo' method but it didn't work for me

15- Worn orange glasses

     No.

16- Licked a salt lamp

     No.

17- Said "There's an oil for that"

I might have, maybe to my mom or husband

18- Used herbs as remedies

Yes. I love herbal teas for sore throats or helping stomach aches. I also make a tincture on herbs.

19- Made my own deodorant

     Yes.

20- Read the ingredient list of anything

     Yes

21- Used a baby carrier

Yes, I love having my newborn babies close.

22- Dug through the trash for recycling

     No

23- Used activated charcoal

Yes. It works great to stop throwing up.

24- Soaked grains or nuts

No, but I want to try

25- Drank kombucha

Yes, regularly. We brew our own

26- Had a cabinet full of mason jars

Yes. They are the best for storing anything

27- Made my own bone broth

No. It seems too complicated, to be honest.

So out of 27 I got 18. I might be more of a chewy mama than a crunchy one haha

Boy or Girl?

With this third pregnancy, we decided not to find out the gender of the baby until he/she is born. At 37 weeks, the anticipation is so exciting!! I decided to test some "old wives tales" regarding predicting the gender of our little baby.

Disclaimer: this is JUST for fun. I did similar "tests" with my other 2 children and half of them turned out to be wrong. David and I will be happy no matter what gender the baby is, as long as he/she is healthy and the birth goes smoothly (=

Old Wives Tale #1: Heart Rate

If the baby’s heart rate is above 140 bpm, it is said that the baby will be a girl. If it is under 140 bpm, then it will be a boy. (Heart rate seems to always be on the lower end)
Prediction outcome: Boy

Old Wives Tale #2: Shape of Belly

If you are carrying high with a big, round belly, you are having a girl. If you are carrying low with a smaller belly that sticks straight out, it’s a boy. (This belly seems to be more round then pointy)
Prediction outcome: Boy

Old Wives Tale #3: Ring Test

Using a string, hang your wedding ring over your pregnant belly. You are having a girl if the ring swings back and forth and it’s a boy if it swings in a circle. (I did this same test with my last 2 pregnancies before finding out their gender, and it was right both times! )
Prediction outcome: Girl

Old Wives Tale #4: Acne

If you have acne while pregnant, it’s a girl. It’s thought that acne during pregnancy is caused by the extra hormones. (I never had any acne problems with all 3 of my pregnancies.)
 Prediction outcome: Boy

Old Wives Tale #5: Cravings

People believe that if you are craving salty foods while pregnant, you can count on having a boy. If you crave sweets, fruit, and orange juice, you are having a little girl. (definitely craving sweets this time around. Especially candy!)
Prediction outcome: Girl

Old Wives Tale #6: Skin under Left Eye

The eye test is when a “V” or “branches” appear when you pull down the skin under your left eye. If you see a “V” or “branches” in the white part, you’re having a girl. I have a “V”, so one more point for a girl. (I have no clue if I did this right, but I didn't see any V)
Prediction outcome: Boy

Old Wives Tale #7: Time of Conception

The person that is most aggressive in bed at the time of conception is the opposite of what the baby will be. (Ummmm... this is a little confusing depending on your definition of aggressive)
 Prediction outcome: Inconclusive

Old Wives Tale #8: Legs

If your legs get really big, you’re having a boy. If your legs stay in shape and lean, it’s a girl. (Well, as far as I know I'm only gaining in the torso, legs seem to be the same)
Prediction outcome: Girl

Old Wives Tale #9: Moodiness and a Little Pecker (this one is odd, but funny)

If you are really moody, you are having a girl since you have another extra girl hormones in you. Your pregnancy will make you smile and be more happy if you are having a boy because there’s a little penis inside you. (Hahaha!!! I'm definitely really moody/emotional )
Prediction outcome: Girl

Old Wives Tale #10: Chinese Gender Chart

The Chinese Gender Chart claims to have an accuracy rate of over 90%. It is based on how old the mother is at conception and the month that she conceived.
Prediction outcome: Boy

Old Wives Tale #11: Mom’s Beauty

Basically you are having a girl if your beauty disappears during pregnancy. It is said that the girl “steals” the mother’s beauty. If you think that pregnancy has never made you look more beautiful, a little boy it is. (well... I honestly don't think pregnancy makes me more beautiful, but I can't say it steals my beauty either. My husband thinks it makes me more beautiful though, and others say I carry well. )
Prediction outcome: Inconclusive

Old Wives Tale #12: Dream of Sex of Baby

If you have dreams that you are having a boy, you will have a girl. If you dream about having a girl, it will be a boy. Dreams show the opposite of what you are having. (I've had dreams of both having a girl and a boy )
Prediction outcome: Inconclusive

Old Wives Tale #13: Clumsy vs. Graceful

If the pregnant woman is graceful throughout her pregnancy, she’s having a girl. If she becomes clumsy, she’s having a boy. (I would say I'm pretty graceful)
Prediction outcome: Girl

Old Wives Tale #14: Side You Most Rest On

If a pregnant woman prefers to lay on her left side, she’s having a boy. If she prefers resting on her right side, she’s having a girl. (I can't think which side I prefer more)
Prediction outcome: Inconclusive

Old Wives Tale #15: Dad’s Weight Gain

If the dad-to-be gains weight while you are pregnant, it’s a girl. If he doesn’t gain weight, you’re having a boy.
Prediction outcome: Girl

Old Wives Tale #16: Breast Test

If a pregnant woman’s left breast is larger than the right breast, she’s having a girl. If the right breast is larger, it’s a boy. (What if they are the same size?)
Prediction outcome: Inconclusive

Old Wives Tale #17: What Do You Think?

71% of the time, the mom-to-be knows what she is having. (First half of the pregnancy I thought it was a boy. Then I thought it was a girl, but the last few days I'm back to not really leaning towards one way or the other.)
Prediction outcome: Inconclusive

Old Wives Tale #18: Morning Sickness

If you had a smooth pregnancy with no morning sickness, it’s a boy. If you were sick or felt really nauseous during your pregnancy, count on a girl. (I've had my few days of feeling sick, but over all it was mild and rare. I haven't thrown up during this pregnancy.)
Prediction outcome: Boy

Old Wives Tale #19: Areolae

If your areolae (the part around your nips) have darkened, it’s a boy. If they haven't, its a girl. Prediction outcome: Boy

Old Wives Tale #20: Protein

When a pregnant woman craves meat and cheese, count on a boy. ( can't really eat eggs, and cheese isn't appealing either. And i was never a big meat eater )
Prediction outcome: Girl

Old Wives Tale #21: Feet

Are your feet colder now that you are pregnant? If so, you just might be having a boy. If your feet have stayed the same before pregnancy and during, you’re having a little girl.
Prediction outcome: Girl

Old Wives Tale #22: Headaches

If you are having headaches, you might be carrying a boy. (I'm so thankful I rarely get headaches.)
Prediction outcome: Girl

Old Wives Tale #23: Baby Names

It is said that when you can only think of specific names for a boy or a girl, you will have that particularly baby. (We were set on a name for a boy before girl )
Prediction outcome: Boy

Old Wives Tale #24: Urine

What color is your pee? If it is bright yellow, you will have a little boy. If your urine is a dull yellow, plan on a girl.
Prediction outcome: Girl

TOTAL GIRL: 10
TOTAL BOY: 8
TOTAL INCONCLUSIVE: 6
